hello dear ones,
yesterday was a very busy and productive day, but I am still sick. Ugh. The amount of phlegm produced by a single person is astonishing (and very, very gross). I look forward to a complete recovery, because clearly I can’t keep this up for much longer. Anyway.
So my big news is that I’ve (re)opened an etsy store! i’ll be sure to post when I make my first sale! check it out here.
Today I’m planning to spend a few hours in my studio, hopefully sewing something!, and then making props for my “taking nautical too far” photo shoot for my design class. Fun! (Oh, and of course, doing tons and tons of homework.)
What are you doing today?
xoxo

good morning lovely friends! I thought I would check in while I wait for my kettle to boil. I hope you are having wonderful saturdays thus far. Minus my horrible cough, I am having a great morning. I’ve been working in my studio for the past two hours (and it’s only 9:30!) and with the help of hooded fang and monsters of folk, this is shaping up to be a super productive day. yay!
I have extra text messages left this month. Say hi! xoxo

good news: the boy has lent me a spare pair of mittens to wear, and they go surprisingly well with my day-to-day ensemble (another reason why we are oh so happy together, I suppose!), so do not mourn too much for my dear departed re-purposed sweater. Next time I see SLO at a craft show I’ll just have to buy another pair!
In other news, I am still ailing, and think I’m about to lose my voice. Friends, call me while you can, I may not be able to speak for much longer! I just got back from a lovely evening with my bestest pole, whom I love dearly. I think it’s safe to say that we both had a fabulous time, and I can’t wait to see her again, even though I plan to blame her for any subsequent voice loss.
aaand tomorrow is the birthday of my bff whom I love more than anyone (and equal to meebo). hopefully I’m feeling not too shitty tomorrow, because I have lots of crafting chores, sewing class, some neat-o embroidery ideas, and really want to hit the gym for some hardcore aerobics.
look, pretty things:

ps, I’m looking for some new blogs to read. suggestions??

has anyone else noticed that weeks are too long and weekends much too short? this feeling has been less of a problem since I quit working 5 days a week, but even though I get to spend 2 entire days in my studio, I’m still bummed out when monday comes. at least I have my awesome typography/design class tomorrow night to look forward to.
things I’m not digging right now:
- this sore throat & feverishness
{dad, I don’t have swine flu. chill out.}
- whose idea was all this homework?
- the hundred thousand emails I get from the Toronto School of Art every day, despite the fact that I am no longer a student there.
- the horrible weather outside. (two scarves required.)
things that are pretty great:
- mirah! man, I forgot how much I loved her.
- my newly cleaned room, clean sheets, and clean clothes!
- diet dr. pepper = super yummy
- positive reinforcement
- my super healthy + yummy packed lunch for tomorrow
- balloons, sparkles, mittens, kittens, hand-holding + snuggles, friendly text messages, bedtime!
xoxo and have a lovely monday, whatever you may be doing.

hey! I love today already, and it’s only 7:40! Here’s why:
1) While my body wouldn’t let me sleep in (I was planning to snooze until 9!) I am currently up and about and have a whole extra hour and a half added to my day!
2) one sarahsnkes and I made a promise thatif either of us didn’t go to the gym this morning, we’d owe the other five bucks. Apparently, MONEY IS A GREAT MOTIVATOR TO GO OUTSIDE IN -11 WEATHER. So: I’m going to the gym later! (Also: Maybe I will be $5 richer in a few hours…?) (Note: historically sarahsnakes and I have done this, about all kinds of things, including going to the gym and going to class. Usually the penance was buying the other person a beer, which in retrospect seems fairly counterproductive.)
3) Meebo is sleeping in a cute little ball on my bed, purring up a storm.
4) I have a crochet-date later this afternoon! (snacks included.) I love love love crafting dates. Hopefully it brightens up outside so we can use my studio in natural light!
5) I woke up to a new email from my style school crafting partner!
6) I have sewing class tonight! We’re going to learn how to make drawstring pouches tonight. Fun!
7) and! absolutely best of all! the most amazing reason as to why I love today ever! I am reading Blackout, the new Connie Willis. (It’s so so so good. Like, so good.) “But Rachel,” you might be asking yourself, “doesn’t Connie Willis’ new book only come out on February 2nd?” To which my answer would be, “why yes, it does.” If you’re not as awesome as me and you don’t have a copy yet (!) make sure to get yours as soon as it comes out. It’s phenomenal!
back to bed for more reading! xoxo

hello! I’m back from my weekend trip to niagara falls, and can I just say, it was fabulous! Despite having lived in Toronto for the last six-ish years, I’ve never been ANYWHERE in Ontario (except for a day-trip to Hamilton with my lady love for antiquing purposes). It was FUN! I mean, how could a place with 12 different wax museums in the same block not be? (We didn’t actually go to any of them, however.) The waterfalls are beautiful, and the weather was pleasant, and did I mention that Jacuzzi in our bedroom overlooking the falls? It was fairly perfect. Plus, I got to wear a whole bunch of cute outfits and walk around holding hands with the boy of my dreams, so it was definitely a weekend well spent. ♥♥
tomorrow is going to be a 100% studio day, so I should go to bed! (I love love love studio days. I literally can’t wait!) There will be lots of blogging, too!
So, until then, xoxo!
